①adequate后常接用to (a need) 或for (a purpose)介词短语，间或接用动词不定式。

【例】We hope the result will be an adequate compensation for your efforts.

我们希望（交易的）结果将使你们的努力得到适当的补偿。

②adequate（还有enough，sufficient）修饰名词时可置于名词之前，也常置于名词之后。

【例】They have adequate active capital for daily requirements.

= They have active capital adequate or daily requirements.
