【1】有利条件，优点，优势

 

①【例】With these advantages we do not expect to have any difficulty in selling your consignment at good prices.

其有这些优点，我们认为以好价钱售出你方货物并不困难。

 

②可接用over，of。

【例】As a general rule, one who makes an attractive offer with prompt shipment has the advantage over others in procuring orders.

一般说来，谁报盘条件优惠，交货期迅速，谁就在获取订货上占有优势。

 

③还可接用to+动名词短语。

【例】There are many advantages to having a sole proprietorship.

办独资经营企业有许多优点。

 

【2】利益，好处

 

①【例】There is a good deal of advantage in attractive packing.

吸引人的包装好处甚多。

 

②advantage与interest，help等名词相似，可组成of advantage在句子中作表语。

【例】We think that it would be of advantage to you to receive the goods well before your National Holiday.

我们认为贵方若能在贵国国庆节之前早早收到货物，对贵方是有好处的。

 

【3】take advantage of 利用

 

①【例】 We feel very sorry that we cannot take advantage of your firm offer this time.

很抱歉，我们这次不能利用贵方的报盘。

注：上面这句话，是拒绝接受报盘的婉转说法。

 

② advantage前还可用形容词修饰

【例】This is an exceptional opportunity for you to have a stock of high-quality products at prices we cannot repeat, and hope you will take full advantage of it.

这是一次特殊的良机，可按低得不能再低的价格购进一批高质量的产品。希望你们能充分利用这一良机。

 

【4】to one’s advantage，to the advantage of 有利，对……有好处

 

①用作状语。

【例】We have made a concession in terms of payment to your great advantage.

我们在付款方式上已做出让步，让你方非常有利。

 

②可用作表语。

【例】It seems to us that compensation trade is more to the advantage of the buyer than of the seller.

依我们看，补偿贸易对买方比对卖方更为有利。

 

③偶尔不用to the advantage of而用to the advantage to。

【例】We trust that this mode of settling the dispute will prove to the best advantage to all parties concerned.

我们相信，这种解决争端的方式对相关各方都会极为有利。
