通知

 

①常用于apprise sb of sth句式中。

【例】 We wish to apprise you of the shipping instructions.

我们想将装船指示告诉你们。

 

②接用that从句。

【例】 We have the pleasure of apprising you that we have established ourselves in London as shipping agents under the firm name of James Hill & Co, Ltd.

现高兴地通知贵方我们在伦敦自行开业为船运代理，名为詹姆斯·希尔有限公司。

 

approach

【1】靠近；临近

 

【例】The date of delivery is approaching [drawing near], but we still have not received your covering L/C up to now.

交货日期已临近，迄今尚未收到你方信用证。

 

【2】接洽；联系

 

①【例】 Please approach your bank for the amendment of the L/C without delay.

请速联系你方银行修改信用证。

 

②可接用宾语+动词不定式。

【例】We must ask you to approach them to clarify this matter immediately.

务请立即就此事同他们联系，予以澄清。

 

【3】处理

 

【例】I feel sure that if (it is) approached in the spirit of friendly cooperation, the question of payment can be settled to our mutual satisfaction.

我相信，如果以友好合作的精神加以处理，支付问题是能够解决得使双方都满意的。

 

【4】临近

 

【例】On [With, At] the approach of the season, we expect a large inflow of enquiries.

在此销售季节临近之际，我们预计会有大批询盘涌到。

 

【5】态度；方法

 

【例】We are glad that you have adopted a reasonable approach to this question.

我们很高兴你们对此问题已采取合理的态度。
