②宾语是“人”时，可接用from doing sth（不能接用不定式）。句式：prevent sb from doing sth。

③在非正式用语中，句式：prevent sb from doing sth可改为prevent sb doing sth或prevent one’s doing sth。

【例】Circumstances prevented us from despatching the goods.

情况使我们未能发货。

可改为：

Circumstances prevented us despatching the goods. = Circumstances prevented our despatching the goods.
