Q: According to reports, in the afternoon of March 15 local time, 49 people were killed and many were injured in mass shootings at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. I wonder what is China’s comment?

 

答:我们对这起事件表示谴责,向遇难者表示哀悼,向伤者和受害者家属表示诚挚慰问。

A: China condemns this incident. We express our condolences to the victims and sincere sympathy to the bereaved families and the injured.

 

3月15日,习近平主席和李克强总理已分别向新西兰总督帕齐·雷迪和新西兰总理杰辛达·阿德恩致慰问电,向遇难者表示沉痛的哀悼,向伤者和受害者家属表示诚挚的慰问,祝受伤者早日康复。王毅国务委员兼外长也向新西兰副总理兼外长彼得斯表达慰问。

On March 15, President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang sent messages of condolences to New Zealand Governor-General Patsy Reddy and Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern respectively, expressing deep condolences to the victims and sincere sympathy to the bereaved families and the injured, and wishing the injured an early recovery. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi also expressed condolences to New Zealand Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters.
