This year celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. On July 1, General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the celebration assembly in Beijing. In the speech Xi comprehensively reviewed the glorious history and great achievements of the Communist Party of China over the past 100 years, profoundly elaborated on the valuable experience accumulated in this historic process, especially the great founding spirit of the Communist Party of China, solemnly declared that China has realized the first centenary goal, and clearly put forward nine major requirements that the Party must firmly grasp in the new journey of learning from history and building a better future. The important speech received great attention and overwhelming responses from the international community.
今年正逢中国共产党建党100周年。7月1日，习近平总书记在北京庆祝大会上发表重要讲话，全面回顾了一百年来党的光辉历程和伟大成就，深刻阐述了在这一历史进程中积累的宝贵经验特别是中国共产党的伟大建党精神，庄严宣告中国实现了第一个百年奋斗目标，明确提出了党在新征程上以史为鉴、开创未来必须牢牢把握的九个方面的重大要求。习近平总书记重要讲话受到国际社会高度关注和热烈反响。
The 180-year history of China since the modern era, the 100-year history of the Communist Party of China since its founding, and the 70-year history of the People’s Republic of China since its founding have all fully proved that without the Communist Party of China, there would be no new China and no great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. To learn from history and build a better future, we must adhere to the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China.
中华民族近代以来180多年的历史、中国共产党成立以来100年的历史、中华人民共和国成立以来70多年的历史都充分证明，没有中国共产党，就没有新中国，就没有中华民族伟大复兴。以史为鉴、开创未来，必须坚持中国共产党坚强领导。
Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has adhered to the Five-sphere Integrated Plan and the Four-pronged Comprehensive Strategy, overcome a series of risks and challenges, and made new great achievements. In particular, in 2020, China took the lead in controlling the once-in-a-century Covid-19 pandemic and in reviving its economy and development, eradicated extreme poverty, and built a moderately prosperous society in all aspects, thus achieved the first centenary goal. For the first time, China’s GDP exceeded the 100-trillion-yuan threshold to 101.6 trillion yuan, about 17% of the world’s total GDP.
2012年党的十八大以来，在习近平主席坚强领导下，中国坚持“五位一体”的总体布局和“四个全面”的战略布局，战胜了一系列风险挑战，取得了新的伟大成就。特别是2020年，中国率先控制住了百年不遇的特大新冠肺炎疫情，率先实现了经济恢复与发展，完成了全面脱贫攻坚和全面建成小康社会，胜利实现了第一个百年奋斗目标。中国的GDP首次突破百万亿人民币，达到101.6万亿元约占世界GDP总量的17%。
In the 100 years since its founding, the Communist Party of China has profoundly changed the course of Chinese history in modern times, transformed the future of the Chinese people and nation, and altered the landscape of world development.
中国共产党成立100年来，深刻改变了近代以来中华民族发展的方向和进程，深刻改变了中国人民和中华民族的前途和命运，也深刻改变了世界发展的趋势和格局。
In terms of foreign relations, the Communist Party of China has strived to promote the building of a community with shared future. The Communist Party of China, inheriting such beautiful ideals and aspirations of the Chinese civilization as “peace is the most precious”, “seeking harmony with all nations” and “the unity of the world”, has unswervingly pursued an independent foreign policy of peace. It has successively put forward and put into practice the five principles of peaceful coexistence, the path of peaceful development, the principle of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness with neighboring countries, the new type of international relations, the Belt & Road Initiative and other peaceful diplomatic policies and ideas, and has developed extensive cooperative relations with political parties, governments and peoples of various countries.
在对外交往方面，中国共产党努力推动“人类命运共同体”建设。中国共产党继承了中华文明“和为贵”、“协和万邦”、“世界大同”的美好理想和愿望，不断丰富和发展中国独立自立的和平外交理论与政策，先后提出并践行了和平共处五项原则、和平发展道路、亲诚惠容的周边外交理念、新型国际关系、“一带一路”等和平外交政策与主张，发展了与各国政党、政府和人民各领域的合作。
At present, major changes unseen in a century and the once-in-a-century pandemic are intertwined, and the factors of insecurity, instability and uncertainty have increased significantly. But no matter how the international situation develops and changes, no matter how well China is developed, China will always hold high the banner of peace, development, and win-win cooperation, adhere to the path of peaceful development and to the opening-up strategy based on mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. China will promote friendly cooperation with all neighboring countries including Maldives and promote the building of a community with a shared future.
当前，世界百年未有之大变局和百年不遇之大疫情相互交织，不安全、不稳定和不确定因素明显增多。但无论国际形势如何发展变化，无论中国发展强大到何种程度，中国都将始终高举和平、发展、合作、共赢的旗帜，坚持走和平发展道路、坚持互利共赢的开放战略，坚持推进与包括马尔代夫在内所有周边国家的友好合作、坚持推动构建人类命运共同体。
Peace, concord, and harmony are ideas the Chinese nation has pursued and carried forward for more than 5,000 years. The Chinese nation does not carry aggressive or hegemonic traits in its genes. The Communist Party of China cares about the future of humanity, and wishes to move forward in tandem with all progressive forces around the world. China has always worked to safeguard world peace, contribute to global development, and preserve international order.
和平、和睦、和谐是中华民族5000多年来一直追求和传承的理念，中华民族的血液中没有侵略他人、称王称霸的基因。中国共产党关注人类前途命运，同世界上一切进步力量携手前进，中国始终是世界和平的建设者、全球发展的贡献者、国际秩序的维护者！
The 100-year-old Communist Party of China always gives its people the first priority and keeps the world in mind; China continues to develop and always pursues equality, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. China led by the Communist Party of China represents great opportunities for the China-Maldives relationship. Over the years, the fruits of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries are gradually emerging in economic, social and cultural fields, strongly boosting the development of the two countries, and bringing tangible benefits to the two countries and their peoples.
一个坚持将人民放在心中最高位置、始终胸怀天下的大党，一个不断发展进步、始终奉行平等互利合作共赢的中国，对中马关系而言是巨大的机遇。多年来，两国互利合作的成果正在经济社会人文各个领域逐步显现，有力提振两国各自发展，为两国和两国人民带来了实实在在的好处。
Not long ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping had a phone call with Maldives President Ibrahim Solih. Xi pointed out that, since China and Maldives established diplomatic ties, the two countries have treated each other with mutual understanding and support, setting an example of equality and win-win cooperation between countries of different sizes. Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, China and Maldives have been sticking together and helping each other. China is willing to continue to provide vaccines and other support for Maldives’ fight against the virus, so as to help the country prevail over the disease. President Solih extended congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, saying that the Communist Party of China, under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, has become an important force in promoting equality, prosperity and cooperation among countries across the world. This is an important phone call between the two heads of state at a monumental moment in China-Maldives relationship, and is of great importance to the future development of relations between the two countries.
不久前，中国国家主席习近平同马尔代夫总统萨利赫通电话。习近平指出，中马建交以来，双方相互理解、相互支持，树立了大小国家平等相待、互利共赢的典范。新冠肺炎疫情发生后，中马两国同舟共济、守望相助。中方愿继续为马方抗击疫情提供疫苗等支持，助力马方战胜疫情。萨利赫祝贺中国共产党成立100周年，表示在习近平主席坚强领导下，中国共产党已经成为推进世界各国平等、繁荣、合作的重要力量。这是一次在中马关系重要时刻进行的一次重要元首通话，对两国关系未来发展具有十分重要的意义。
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Maldives. China is willing to hold various forms of celebrations with Maldives to deepen the friendship between the peoples of the two countries and push forward bilateral relations. The Chinese side is ready to work with Maldives to continuously push forward the Belt and Road cooperation, so as to bring more benefits to the people of both countries. The two countries should strengthen mutual support on multilateral occasions, uphold international equity and justice as well as the common interests of developing countries, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
明年是中马建交50周年，中方愿同马方开展形式多样的庆祝活动，加深两国人民友好情谊，推动中马关系向前发展。中方愿同马方继续推进共建“一带一路”合作，为两国人民带来更多福祉。双方应加强在多边场合相互支持，维护国际公平正义和发展中国家共同利益，推动构建人类命运共同体。
Looking forward to the journey that lies ahead, we believe China-Maldives relationship will have a bright future. China is willing to work with the Maldivian side and actively implement the important consensus reached by two heads of state during the phone call. We are good neighbors based on equality and mutual trust, good partners engaged in win-win cooperation, good brothers who support each other all the time, and good friends who trust each other with all sincerity. I am confident that, with the joint efforts of our two governments and people, we will write an even more beautiful chapter in our friendly relations and cooperation!
