晚上好！感谢香港驻悉尼经贸办的邀请，我很高兴参加今天的晚宴。

Good evening! I am delighted to attend the special dinner tonight. My thanks go to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Sydney for the kind invitation.

香港回归祖国25年来，“一国两制”实践在香港取得举世公认的成功。习近平主席在庆祝香港回归25周年大会上的重要讲话指出，“一国两制”是前无古人的伟大创举，其根本宗旨是维护国家主权、安全、发展利益，保持香港、澳门长期繁荣稳定。25年的实践告诉我们，深刻理解和准确把握“一国两制”的实践规律，必须坚持中央全面管治权和保障特别行政区高度自治权相统一，必须落实“爱国者治港”。过去两年多以来，香港国安法的制定实施和选举制度的修改完善，使“爱国者治港”原则得以落实，香港居民依法享有的民主权利和自由得到更加充分保障。

Over the past 25 years of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, the practice of “One Country, Two Systems” has achieved success in Hong Kong recognised by all. As Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out in his important speech at the meeting celebrating the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland, the policy of “One Country, Two Systems” is a great initiative that has no precedent to follow, and its underlying goal is to uphold China’s sovereignty, security and development interests, and maintain the long-term prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and Macau. Twenty-five years of practice tells us that to have a profound and accurate understanding of the rules governing the implementation of “One Country, Two Systems”, we must ensure the integration of the overall jurisdiction of the Central Authorities and a high degree of autonomy in the SAR, and implement the principle of patriots administering Hong Kong. Over the past two years and more, the Hong Kong national security law has been formulated and enforced, and the electoral system has been amended and improved, ensuring the implementation of the principle of patriots administering Hong Kong. It has served to fully ensure the democratic rights and freedoms enjoyed by Hong Kong residents.

当前，香港正处在由乱到治走向由治及兴的新阶段，未来5年是香港开创新局面、实现新飞跃的关键期。机遇和挑战并存，机遇大于挑战。我们期待各界朋友继续支持香港发展，推动香港和澳大利亚深化各领域的交流与合作。我们坚信“一国两制”在香港的实践必将取得更大成功，香港的明天更美好!

Now, Hong Kong is in a new stage of moving from chaos to governance and then from governance to greater prosperity. The next five years will be crucial for Hong Kong to break new ground and launch a new take-off. Hong Kong faces both opportunities and challenges, and there are more opportunities than challenges. We hope friends from all sectors will continue to support the development of Hong Kong, promote exchanges and cooperation between Hong Kong and Australia across the board. We firmly believe that the practice of “One Country, Two Systems” in Hong Kong will achieve greater success, and Hong Kong will enjoy a better tomorrow.
