语音象征

A term used in semiotics and linguistics to refer to a direct association between the form and the meaning of language: the sounds used reflect properties of the external world, as in cases of onomatopoeia and other forms of synaesthesia (e.g. sl- in such words as slimy, slither).

符号学用来指语言形式和意义之间的直接联系：使用的音反映外部世界的特性，如拟声现象和其他形义联觉形式（例如slimy“粘滑的”，slither“滑动”这类词中的sl-（有“滑”义联觉））。
