【1】二者，两个，双方

 

①在带限定词如the，those，his等的名词之前，用both或both of

【例】We bought both [both of] the ancient paintings.

我们买了那两幅古画。

 

②在不带限定词的名词之前，仅可用both，不能用both of

【例】It is declared by both parties that there are no other agreements between them related to the selling or servicing for the product.

双方特此宣告，在关于产品的销售和服务方面，双方并未有任何其他协议。

 

③both of+代词=代词+both。

【例】Both of them ordered our products. = They both ordered our products.

他们二人都订购了我方产品。

 

【2】both A and B……和……二者，不仅……而且……

 

按照语法学家的意见，A和B最好是语法结构相同的成分。

【例】For carrying goods liable to be spoiled by damp or water, the containers have the great advantage of being both water-tight and air-tight.

对于装运易受潮气或水损坏的货物，集装箱有很大的优点，即不透水和不透气。
