Register Tone Language
音域声调语言
A term introduced by Kenneth Pike as part of a classification of tone languages. The notion contrasts with a ‘contour tone language’, where the critical feature is the nature of the gliding tone rather than its relative pitch height. Mixed register/contour tone systems can also be found.
