①【例】It is expected that the consignment will be ready for shipment in the early part of May.

这批货可望于5月上旬备妥待运。

 

②part of和a part of皆可用。但一般part of指50%以上或以下的部分，而a part of则指50%以下。

【例】We regret to inform you that a part of the goods were found in disarray because they were not securely bundled.

我们很遗憾地告知你方，由于货物没有捆牢，发现已有部分散乱。

 

【2】（机器的）部件

 

【例】Although we do not regularly carry the tractors in stock, we can easily obtain the body parts whenever you might need any.

我们平时不储存这种拖拉机；但贵方若有需要，我们可随时获得其主要部件。

 

【3】方面，方

 

【例】This Agreement is made and entered into this 15th day of June, 2001, between Smith & Co., (hereinafter referred to as “A”) of the one part, and Brown & Co., (hereinafter referred to as “B”) of the other part.

本协议由史密斯公司（以下简称为甲方）为一方，由布朗公司（以下简称为乙方）为另一方，订于2001年6月15日。

 

【4】in part部分地，在某种程度上

 

①【例】Pricing depends in part on the cost of shipping.

（出口）价格部分地看运费多少而定。

 

②有时in part之中可加用修饰词语。

【例】Our success in business is in good [great, small] part owing to their help.

我们业务上的成功在相当[很大，不大]的程度上要归功于他们的帮助。

 

【5】on one’s part, on the part of在……方面

 

【例】We believe that you will appreciate the efforts made on our part and will establish the L/C right away.

我们相信，你方对我方所做的努力会感到满意，并立即开来信用证。

 

【6】play a part发挥……作用

【例】We have much confidence that we can play an important part as a buying agent in your overseas trade.

我们深信，我们在担任你方国外贸易的购货代理商时能起重要作用。

【例】Thank you for your cheque for £500 in part payment of our invoice No.2202.

为支付第2202号发票货款的一部分，你方金额500英镑的支票已收到，谢谢。

participate

【1】参加

 

后面接用in。

【例】The licensee may be entitled to participate in the sales of the products outside of his country Thailand.

许可证接受方有权在其本国——泰国以外（参加）销售本协议许可的产品。

 

【2】参加

 

【例】Both parties shall contribute to the Joint Venture and share equity participate in the Joint Venture in a ratio of 50 percent.

双方应向合营企业出资并以各占50%的比例进行资本参与。
